How can we help?
Answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, the contact and bug report pages at the bottom go straight to the team.
Getting started
Who is Branded for?
Athletes who want to be found, and the coaches and recruiters looking for them. Athletes build a profile with their sport, position, stats, measurables, academics, and film. Coaches and recruiters search that pool, follow the athletes they are tracking, and message them directly.
What should I fill in first?
A profile photo, your sport and position, and your graduation year. Those are the fields coaches filter on, so a profile without them is effectively invisible in search. Stats, measurables, and a highlight tape come next — each one gives a recruiter a reason to keep reading.
Edit everything from your profile.
I picked the wrong account type. Can I change it?
Account type affects what your profile shows and how you appear in search, so it isn’t something you can flip yourself. Contact us from the email on your account and we’ll switch it.
Connections and messaging
What's the difference between following and being friends?
Following is one-way: you see someone’s posts in your feed. When two people follow each other, Branded shows them as friends. Coaches following you is normal and does not require you to follow back.
Why does it say I've reached my connection limit?
Each plan includes a set number of new connections per period. The cap keeps the network from being flooded with mass-follows, which is what makes a follow from a coach mean something. Your allowance resets automatically; the current numbers for each plan are on the plans page.
Who can message me?
Anyone you are connected with. Open your inbox to see conversations. If someone is contacting you in a way that feels off, block them from their profile and, if needed, report it — see “Safety” below.
How does 'Recommended for you' decide who to show?
It ranks people you don’t follow yet by how much you have in common: the sports you both list, how many of the people you follow also follow them, and whether you are in the same state. Athletes see more coaches and coaches see more athletes, since that is the connection the network exists to make. Nothing about it is paid placement.
Posts and media
What can I post?
Photos and videos — up to ten in a single post — with a caption. Game film and highlight tape belong on your profile rather than in the feed so a coach can find them without scrolling; the feed is for what you are doing this week.
My upload failed or is stuck.
Large videos are uploaded in the background, so leaving the page is fine — but a dropped connection will stop it. Check that the file is under the size limit shown on the create page, then try again on a steady connection. If it keeps happening, report it with the file size and format.
Can I save a post and finish it later?
Not yet. Finish the post before you leave the create page. Nothing is kept as a draft.
Plans and billing
What do the paid plans add?
Higher connection allowances, more upload capacity, and — for coaches and recruiters — advanced search filters on stats, measurables, GPA, and film. The full comparison is on the plans page.
How do I change or cancel my plan?
From Settings → Plan. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep your plan’s features until the end of the period you already paid for.
Safety and your account
What does the verified badge mean?
That the person confirmed their identity with a government ID through our verification partner. It tells a coach the athlete is who the profile says, and tells an athlete the coach is a real person at a real program. Start verification from your profile.
How do I report someone?
Use the report option on their profile or on the specific post or message. Reports are reviewed by a person. For anything involving the safety of a minor, email nilbranded@gmail.com directly as well.
How do I download or delete my data?
Delete your account from Settings. For an export of your data, or any other privacy request, email nilbranded@gmail.com. What we hold and why is spelled out in the privacy policy.
Still stuck?
Tell us what you were trying to do and we’ll get back to you.
